I've never understood how people in movies and T.V. can brush their teeth while they are talking. When I brush my teeth and use toothpaste, I make a terrible mess that seems to get all over the sink and mirror no matter how hard I try not to. And when the phone rings, brushing is over while I try to sound like I am not drowning. I suspect that the people in the movies just don't use any toothpaste but simply use the brush just for effect.

What a great idea to hang your clothes outside to dry on a clothes line. Except . . . I never have time! Recently I looked for a clothes line rope to use as piping to restore an antique lamp shade. Last time I bought a clothes line rope it was with irons and ironing boards. But not today. After four trips across a giant store and no help from the clerks who also thought it would be by the irons, I finally found the clothes line rope between paint and automotive! No wonder I don't seem to find en.....

It continues to amaze me how companies continue to find new ways to sell air. Recently I bought a bag of styrofoam peanuts to pack restored lamp shades to send to my customers. When I brought them home and put them in my office, I got to thinking how much air I had just bought! Peanuts, bubble wrap, quilted toilet paper . . . when will I learn to look for alternatives that give me more for my money?

All day long I go about my daily activities never giving a second thought to my arms. They do what they need to do without any trouble. Then why do I have a problem at night? I like to go to sleep on my side but I seem to have a problem with one of my arms. No matter how I lay there never seems to be any good place for that arm. It's in my way!
So I toss and turn and eventually end up on back drifting off to never-never land. And my arms never give me any trouble until I try to go to sl.....

I go to a lot of yard sales and auctions looking for antique lamps and shades that can be recovered. What a circus that is! People getting so excited when they get a tiny doo-dad for 10 cents instead of the asking price of 25 cents and looking like they had just won a three-week all-expense paid vacation in Europe. Recently I frantically bid for a dumb ceramic chicken when I got caught up in bids at an auction. It's ugly and too big for any table and too little for the yard. Then last weekend I .....

I'm continually amazed how comfortable we become when we establish good habits. We don't need to think about habits we have had for a long time. Your brain takes a break and you can think about other things at the same time. When you lick an envelope, do you lick from one side all the way to the other? Or do you lick to the middle, then lick the other half? Do you put on your left shoe first? Or do you start with the right? It's funny but if I start by putting on the opposite shoe as usual I fin.....

I can't believe how many times I have to call some company with a question. I know the phone number is always on the statement somewhere. When I find the phone number, I call it and can't figure out why I can't get through. Then I realize I've called my own phone number! Both my and the company's numbers are on the statement and, duh, I call my own number without realizing it. Is it age or does anyone else do this?

It's probably not a popular topic but I can't believe that marketers are actually making money selling toilet paper air. Yes, that's right. Quilting is just a matter of inserting air pockets to make the toilet paper manufacturers more money and convince everyone that quilting is better! All TP is treated the same. Some is just prettier than others and the air costs more.

Now I've rambled on before about all these new countries or better yet countries that have changed their names. Today I got a letter from my cousin, the one with a lot of money that travels all over the world since he retired. He said he and his wife were going on a grand tour of Europe and would visit Lljublana for the second time. The fact is, I don't remember Lljublana the first time! Come to find out it used to be Yugoslavia. I remember that country.

England must have disappeared along with several other countries I learned about when I was in school. I was very proud of the fact that I had memorized most of the countries of the world along with their locations. It began sometime back when I'd listen to the news and learn there was some incident in a country I had never heard of. And the more attention I paid I realized there was another planet with countries that weren't around when I was a young student. So now I have to get on .....
